ROBERT J. KEMP

Insurance License Held: California Life and Disability
California Real Estate Broker
SEC Registered Investment Advisor Representative
As a dedicated, independent financial advisor, Robert takes great responsibility in working with each client, gaining an understanding of their unique situation and applying strategies designed to help them achieve their most important goals. He believes KFM’s mandate is to provide advice for life, assisting each client in making the most of each stage, from work to raising a family to retirement to leaving a legacy.
Robert has almost three decades of experience advising and guiding clients. He began his career while still in college, with a boutique financial planning firm. He has always worked as an independent financial advisor rather than at a national or regional “brokerage” firm. This has allowed him to provide truly objective advice adapted to each client’s needs.
Robert holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from California State University at Fullerton. He has been an active member of the Institute of Investment Management Consultants for over 20 years and attends multiple educational conferences to stay ahead of investment management and financial planning developments.
Robert has been a featured writer for several publications, and was co-author of the book Kemp & Cooke on Asset Class Investing (1999). The driving force behind his writing has been his commitment to providing information and education on the latest academic research about investing and planning best practices and how financial markets work.
When Robert has spare time, he enjoys bicycling, wakeboarding, snowboarding, and walking his two dogs. While raising his family, he was actively involved in athletics, coaching his children’s sports teams including soccer, baseball, golf, and hockey. He was a long-term coach or manager at Golden Hill Little League for 16 years and an All Star Manager for three years, leading one of his teams to the District Championship. Golf has been a significant part of Robert’s life, as he played in high school and college. He is currently a member of Hacienda Golf Club in La Habra Heights and has served on various club committees over the years. Just to get him out of his comfort zone, Robert began playing guitar, despite having no musical background.
He has served on a variety of Boards including Parish Council Chairman, Advisory Board Member, Bellatore Investment Council, Assante, Dan Black Program at California State University Fullerton, Loring Ward and the Management Advisory Committee for SagePoint Financial Advisors and the Investment Advisory Field Advisory Board. He currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Marshall B. Ketchum University and is a committee member of their Finance Committee. Robert is a leader in a weekly Men’s Bible Study, Small Group for his Church and is active in his Church membership.
But the most important thing in Robert’s life is his family. He and his wife of over 30 years, Diane, have two sons, Samuel and Otto, and two daughters, Hannah and Alexandria.
